Four Panel Narrative (from prompts)

29-30/05/18
Making our own little workshop-style activity, making a four panel narrative from prompts.
Each of the four panels has a different prompt/word/phrase - these were found on an online random prompt generator.
The prompts for these four panels were:
Moonlight --- Where the shadow falls --- horror ---- come not in darkness

Jumping Jeebies! The biggest (and first carrying its victim) jumping spider Ive ever seen!

29/05/18 - this is by far the Biggest jumping spider ive ever seen! Normally no larger than 5mm long, this big guy was almost 1-whole-cm!
AND he was carrying a freshly squeeze and poorly-fated fly!
Fair to say, jumping spiders dont build webs, stalking and pouncing on their prey - the jaguars of the minibeast world :)

Pet Portrait - a tribute for our sweet Noah

27/05/18 - 2nd pet portrait commission of the year :)
a lovely tribute to the little chihuahua Noah, who is no longer with us xxx Heaven is showering him in lots of toys to cuddle <3
a long way from the first portrait we made for him, though im not convinced my scanner is coping well with perspective, it looks more proportioned better in persons eye view.

The SPOOKY Swallow and Swift

if posting the same post from this day last year wasnt enough, now we had to go and paint the SAME bird we photographed this day 2013
Swallows and swifts, if you've ever wondered the difference, wonder no more! they are very distinct. Also these two are on a 140mph (70mph each) collision course! not the intention but what the hey

Bored Pigeon Postcards - The 7 Wonders of the world

This was Dads brilliant idea! ALthough... where are all the Wonders? Turns out they are mostly all defunct, giving our pigeon a good excuse to be bored!

With Sympathy to Mundi the Puffin xxx

It's a sad day for all who followed and loved Mundi the Puffin. He was such a star and and inpiration, even having his own facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/MundiThePuffin/. He was perhaps the most famous and most photographed puffin in the world.
He was rescued in Iceland and taken in to a sanctuary after crashing and losing sight in both eyes. He could never return to the wild but enjoyed the comforts and luxuries of sanctuary and home living surrounded by loving people and friends.

I featured this little chap in 365 Days of Pets and wasn't going to repeat him in the monthly theme. But on hearing the sad news I had to give him another feature in the Birds of May. It is only fair and i hadn't the heart to paint anyone else <3

Peace be with you Mundi xxxx

Eel Suitcase - Like Mother Like Elver

Here is my submission to the Eel Suitcase Project, found here :) https://www.instagram.com/eelsuitcase/
Little pen drawing done during our night owl art relaxation hours (maybe 30 minutes drawing time done in 4 nights!)
It's dedicated to the European eel which is in decline. I founnd inspiration from glass eels and young elvers that make great migrations across the ocean to reach their home stream. They never meet their parents but our plucky little elver found her mum :)

The Tale of the 30 mystery eggs!

 1st May 2018:
30 tiny eggs, cleverly disguised as mouse droppings sneak their way in to Joey's flat.

3rd May:
One little egg hatches this very little thing cleverly disguised as a splinter of wood. He refuses to move off the tissue paper and in to his new home. He is adamant he is a real twig.
Peatree
In the end Joey had to carefully cut the corner off just to lift him in to his home.

4th May
Hatchling the 2nd woke up today, zippy, spritely and full of beans! She just couldn't wait to scamper and explore the big new world. She loves climbing on fingers, hands, arms, twigs leaves etc.
Teatree
5th May
No more brothers or sisters this morning. The two lil tikes are enjoying a bonanza of oak and ivy all to themselves.

6th May
Still no more siblings. But our new charges come first, so laundry can wait! This morning we went food shopping and Spring cleaned the two twiglets' leafy home. They don't make it easy, our spritely little speed demon just wanted to play on the climbing frame (aka, Joey's hand)
Little spritely turns one hand in to a climbing frame

twiglets posing their best twiggiest poses! ... Their brothers and sisters seem to be hibernating, they do like their beauty sleep :3

The little twiglets are doing well, munching on their house of oak and ivy getting their 5-a-day, leaving droppings everywhere and slowly growing up. No certainties yet on gender but I'm sure their one male and one female.
Peatree
Also I have decided on two names, funnily none from the list I made.
I christen them Peatree and Teatree! Petrie from the Land Before Time - a brilliant childhood film, and TeaTree .... just cos it rhymes and sounds cute :)
Teatree

18/05/18
We have a nightcrawler! This little guy is fashionably late but spritely as ever. It's a good thing I checked my clutch before bed, the lil twiglet is a real night owl.
It just so happens Nana and I were just wondering about them yesterday... spooky! I quoted "The higher you get your hopes up, the harder they come crashing down, so I don't hold my breath every time i go to bed". As it happens, I didn't even have chance to get to bed.
Some names in mind: Gumtree, Oakin (Zelda korok character), Patterfoot, Tinyfoot, Tree-o-let, Iven.

When you expect nothing, then get 2 in a row!
Welcome to the world twiglet the 4th! xxx He or she is another speedy ganzallez, the lil twig practically leapt out of the terrarium and on to my arm and scampered on to my shoulder. He is NOT afraid of heights!
Also Nana was curious when I told her the eggs have tiny discs that come off like the peel-off milk tops. Here are the latest two hollow shells.

P.S. The latest two are named Oakin and Iven.

And then there were 5! They are fair weather crawlies, and while Joey is melting in to the floor, the little charges are hatching like wild fire. Any more and their hagen will be cramped full!
Luckily Joey phoned a place called The Ark today, an orphanage for little twiglets and other fantastical creatures. As long as the staff don't let them mingle with the anteaters, I'm sure they will find new and loving homes.
Until twiglet the 6th comes though, as long as I can count them on one hand there are no tearful goodbyes just yet!

Names for the new Quintwiglet?: Quin. Treebeard. Bowtruckle. Gimly. Dekubaba. Peahat

Spending some quality time with Teatree this evening xxx She is much lighter than Peatree

Whats the term for sixlets? Hexagontwiglets? Whatever the case, I can no longer fit my family on one hand with a finger each to perch on. Luckily Hex-twig didn't get blown out of the window like one random nightmare forewarned, he was another hatch-before-bed.
It may soon be time to pay the stick orphanage a visit *tear-jerk*.
