Tattoo Design Extra: The Yin and Yang of Roses
Here's one for the flash portfolio.
A huge project it turned out to be, stippled with millions and millions of inky dots!
But for the night owl hours some time each night spent with art is always therapeutic. A suitable subject here to reflect the balance and peace in that time <3

Mum's ink anklet - Refining
Part 1 - initial ideas
At long last we managed to hit a sweet spot with this one. Failing with the complex anatomy of mums favourite flower alstonomocalicalia? i resorted to my personal favourite, don't-forget-mes.
First idea was a literal anklet, chain, and we both love this idea. Then i came up with a more natural design below.
Both are in the development process and two polished outcomes will come from this, then its just a matter of deciding which of the two is best!
Still working on the flower design itself.
17/07/18
"I like this. But then I liked the other one too. The forget-me-nots idea is a brilliant one. Green or black, both are good. Spot on! Not sure about the shape of the little green leaves though, one of them looks almost penis shaped, pardon my language!"
19/07/18 - Fixing the penis shape problem!
Both versions with updated forgetful-nots

Below: This chain idea with metal rings between the flowers has been discarded... it looks a mess and with the tattoo its unlikely to look elegant at all working with the ink and small scale. One cock up and black might tarnish the blue?
And finally the final vine. With or without the knots?

Joey goes on life-guard duty for a morning!
18/07/18
I do love you little gulls, but today you were all dumb as dodos and did not waterproof your feathers enough before taking a dip!
Joey on life guard duty this morning, fishing out nearly a dozen of the sorry sodden birds.... tragically too late for one unlucky sunken fledgling...
Going past the civic centre pond, i saw the usual group of this-years gull chicks having a swim. But something was very wrong indeed.

Joey on life guard duty this morning, fishing out nearly a dozen of the sorry sodden birds.... tragically too late for one unlucky sunken fledgling...
Going past the civic centre pond, i saw the usual group of this-years gull chicks having a swim. But something was very wrong indeed.
They were all 2/3rds underwater, swimming very slowly and some even struggled to keep their heads above water.
I
have seen this before and knew exactly that all a dozen or so of them
were severely waterlogged and quickly going under. I have seen two
drownings of gulls in this pond, including one of the youngsters today
who I was too late to save.
With no one around
with the mind to help tthem, or perhaps unaware of the terrible events
unfolding, i was their only hope. Luckily most were skirting the edge,
unable to fly out over the rim. I was able to be quick, corner many and
reach in on my hands and knees to fish them out one by one. I managed to
fish out 8 - 9 or so, the remaining couple seemed ok in the middle of
the pond.
The rescued survivors. cold wet and shivering, dried
themslevs and shook vigorously on the grass to shake off all the water
and proceeded to preen.
Normally seagull preen
themsele with an oil that waterproofs their feathers. These juveniles
were either too inexperiences or still not quite developed enough to
face the pond, with no way out other than to fly up. These guys are very
lucky to have lived, and hopefull this is a lesson that won't be
repeated any time soon!

Mum's tattoo musings
Friday 13th 07/18
After making 3 attempts at this design, with mums seal of approval plus plently of constructive crit! Actually the progression is plain to see as they go. Quite happy ith the recent attempt last night
Now im told that ink on the foot fades fast from wear and tear, sweaty socks and tedious trainers. Im looking at the gap above my fox, ive always wanted to put something naturey/foresty/flowery there. This might be my best chance. Awaiting mums all important verdict
No to cats...
17/07/18 - Back to Plan A, with added foliage :3💚
